Who We Are
Welcome to the Pelican Sound Bike Club!
We are a proud sub-committee of the Pelican Sound Fitness Committee, dedicated to promoting a safe and enjoyable biking environment for all—both within our community and beyond. Our mission is to advocate for safe biking practices and to work collaboratively to enhance the transport infrastructure, ensuring the safety of cyclists and pedestrians alike.
To join us on any Pelican Sound Bike Club rides, please remember to wear a suitable bike helmet. Additionally, you’ll need to have a signed waiver submitted to the Administration office. You can obtain your waiver in person or download it from the dedicated tab on our website.
Let's ride together and make our biking community safer and more vibrant!
Our Riding Group
We cater to a range of biking abilities and intensities:
- Cruisers: A relaxed 10–12-mile route, ensuring speeds under 10 mph, taking you through secondary streets, bike paths, and sidewalks.
- Sprinters: A more vigorous 15–20-mile route averaging speeds of 12-13 mph, utilizing secondary roads, bike paths, and bike lanes.
- Road Riders: For the ambitious, a 25–35-mile route at a brisk 14-15 mph average, encompassing secondary roads, bike paths, and lanes.
During our peak season (January-March), the Bike Club meets every Saturday for group rides. Details on times and starting points are shared in the weekly Pelican Sound Sports Wave, with signups facilitated through the Pelican Sound App.
Destination Rides: From January to March, we organize a monthly special ride to prominent biking locations in Southwest Florida. Destinations include the scenic Naples Gulf Shore, the picturesque Sanibel & Captiva Islands, the historic Boca Grande Island, the vibrant Venice, and the majestic Everglades National Park. Members drive to these locations and then embark on unique biking adventures.
